The Metal Casting Storm Water Monitoring Group (MCSMGI), created by the California Metals Coalition as a service to its members, is a non-profit corporation established in 1992 to assist California's metal working industry with storm water compliance. By law, every industrial facility in California must monitor storm water run-off, test the run-off for specified substances, and report these findings through a myriad of forms and filings (more info). MCSMGI coordinates and often performs these tasks for participating members by providing technical, legal, and regulatory guidance for storm water compliance. Participants receive individual and site-specific training in accordance with the California General Permit for pollution prevention measures. Group leaders educate participants on complex water regulations and Best Management Practices (BMPs) by holding yearly workshops, through monthly newsletters, visits, and via e-mail reminders and guidance. In all, MCSMGI is proud to be one of California's oldest and most proactive storm water compliance groups.
